Catchment
and Land Protection Act 1995 |
Management
of activities in catchments (that could impact on downstream
marine systems) |
Sets
up a framework for the integrated management and protection
of catchments, including community participation in the
management of land and water resources, and a system of
controls on noxious weeds and pest animals. The Act also
establishes the Victorian Catchment and Land Protection
Council, Regional Catchment and Land Protection Boards and
the Pest Animal Advisory Committee. |

Coastal
Management Act 1995 |

Established
the Victorian Coastal Council, made up of community representatives
and departmental nominees, to be the peak body for the strategic
planning and management of the Victorian coast, and to provide
advice on coastal issues to the Minister for Environment
and Conservation. One of the major tasks of the Council
has been the preparation of a Victorian Coastal Strategy
(Victorian Coastal Council 1997). |
